THE SMALL STAKES

A new addition to Material is this fantastic collection of modern-day music poster design brought to you by renowned Graphic artist Jason Munn and his innovative one man design studio The Small Stakes.

Collected here for the first time are over 150 of his iconic posters for various bands, including Beck, Wilco, Built to Spill, the Flaming Lips, the Pixies, and many more. Unique in their conceptual elegance, Munn's silk-screened posters are widely appreciated for perfectly evoking each artist or band's character and distinctive sound. With a foreword by Death Cab for Cutie's bassist Nicolas Harmer, an interview conducted by prolific poster artist Jay Ryan, and 6-color printing that showcases metallic silver and gold, this book is a beautiful celebration of art and music.

Jason Munn creates his award-winning design work from his independent design studio in Oakland, California. His work is featured in numerous exhibitions and is in several museum collections, including the SFMOMA and the Denver Art Museum.

Hervé Morvan: The Genius of French Poster Art
Herve Morvan（1917〜1980）is a French poster artist and designer who became well-known for his advertising poster for Perrier in 1950, and his following works for Vittel, Evian, Danon, Esso drew people’s attention. Along with Ramond Savignac, who is his good friend as well as his competitor, Hervé Morvan is still popular among a wide range of people. Morvan's works are relatively soft in touch compared.

This beautiful book documents many of the posters he created during his time and is an absolute delight to read or even just flick through.

Originally from Ireland and now based in London, Sinead Delvin started Galavant a few months back. Her love of jewellery and desire and need for a creative outlet inspired her decision to begin Galavant by way of setting up an Etsy shop. Since then her jewellery has been featured in the Telegraph Weekend magazine and she has never looked back.

Her beautiful, delicate china tea cups and teapot pendants on silver or gold plated chains are a delight to wear.

So...WHAT IS LUDLOW SAUSAGE?... I HEAR YOU ASK

Many of you who know us at material and have a vague idea of our roots, will know what Ludlow sausage is however, having been stopped on Beak Street the other day by a Taxi Driver who proceeded to stop traffic in order to ask me what Ludlow Sausage is, I feel I should give those of you not so much in the know an explanation. So, here goes...

Material was originally established in the market town of Ludlow, a town which, in previous years, established itself a reputation for being a gourmet restaurant capital with a great food festival. A feature of this food festival is the famous Sausage trail in which the six famously retained independent butchers shops, each with their own particular specialities, compete for the award of the best sausage of the year. Having won a few years in a row, one of these award winning sausages is called Ludlow Sausage.

The recipe of the Ludlow Sausage is a well kept secret created by Carters Butchers. Unfortunately, this butcher closed two years ago but the recipe was passed on to D. W. Wall & Son round the corner (not to be confused with their larger sausage-making namesake) and, thus, the Ludlow Sausage lives on.

The sausage was also given a new lease of life in the form a a Tyrells crisp flavour, Ludlow Sausage and Mustard.

We at material like to champion the Ludlow Sausage and have been producing these bags since being established in 2007. They were discontinued for a short spell but due to demand, they are now back on the menu. They are available to buy in store and online and with every order or purchase over £25, you will receive one free.
